It has
been announced that this years Doric Carnival - a wonderful
party of overindulgence
[not to be
confused with the
Doric Festival
held in October] -
will take place at an unspecified place on a random date fairly close to the 4th of
June, which by amazing coincidence coincides precisely with
International Talk Doric Day. This years carnival promises
to be bigger, better, brighter and completely disorganised!
So come along,
bring your Tappit Hen and join the party.
Scenes from the
2009 Doric Carnival when revellers spontaneously took to the
streets of Peterhead. The celebrations
only ended, after six weeks, when Big Bob asked for the bar
bill and calculated that it would take three years income
from Scottish Oil to pay it off.
The
improvised carnival parade through Peterhead
The belly
dancing competition proved a great success.
The fun was
never ending - as was the whistle blowing.
A young girl
wearing a traditional Doric Semmit - knitted by her
grandmother.
Even the cats
got in on the fun.
Sadly all
good things must come to an end!!!
